Brand Foundations + Custom Squarespace Website Design

Overview

Golda Schultz is an internationally acclaimed operatic soprano performing on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. As her career accelerated, Golda needed a professional digital presence that matched her public profile - one that felt refined, expressive, and capable of showcasing the breadth of her work. I was engaged to develop brand foundations and design a custom Squarespace website that could serve as a central hub for her performances, press, recordings, and ongoing career milestones.

The challenge

Golda’s existing website was content-heavy but visually flat - a simple collection of images and information that no longer reflected her stature or artistry.

The new website needed to reflect her international profile and credibility; showcase peformances, recordings and media coverage; and support ongoing updates.

Just as importantly, it needed to feel elegant, expressive, and personal - rooted in who Golda is, not just where she performs.

The approach

We began by establishing clear brand foundations to guide the website design.

This included a wordmark logo; a colour palette and typography system; and custom graphic elements inspired by Golda’s South African heritage, including a protea motif woven subtly throughout the site

From there, I designed and built a fully custom Squarespace website, balancing structure with softness - allowing performances, imagery, and critical acclaim to take centre stage.

The site was designed to be:

  • Easy to navigate for presenters, media, and audiences

  • Flexible enough to grow with new performances and recordings

  • Timeless, rather than trend-driven

The outcome

The final website presents Golda’s work with clarity and confidence — elevating her digital presence while staying true to her artistic identity.

For several years, I continued to manage and update the website as her career progressed, before the role transitioned to a PR team handling ongoing content and announcements.

Beyond the website, I’ve also supported Golda with ad hoc creative work - including social media templates for major announcements and custom-designed collateral, such as a “good luck” postcard and pencil gifted to colleagues ahead of opening nights.
